volleyball
description
The Volleyball unit in the Junior Division is meant to be an introduction to concepts required for the Volleyball unit completed in the Middle School. The students will be introduced to the basic hits of volleyball as well as several other important principles. These include player placement and movement, team rotations, and scoring. As the students develop their skills, they will begin participating in larger games designed to further their skill refinement.
At this grade level, we will be sure to modify the activities whenever necessary. This may include using a larger, lighter ball or even lowering the nets. This allows the students to learn the skill while still experiencing success. Adjustments will be made based on the experience level and development of students. By the end of the unit, the students should be knowledgeable about volleyball and should be able to participate in regulation matches.
