Parachute Games
description
The Parachute unit is one of the students' favorites. They love the games we play and the cool things they can make the parachute do. The best part is that they have no idea the types of benefits they are getting just from "playing". The parachute games we play help develop lower and upper body strength as well as cardiovascular endurance. We play games such as Mouse Trap and Fish in the Sea and make Mountains, Mushrooms, and Umbrellas with the parachute.
This unit requires a great deal of cooperation. In order to simultaneously manipulate the parachute the students must learn to work together in harmony. Not only do they need to be on their best behavior, but they have to be willing to share and listen carefully to directions. The classes are able to learn so much just from using something as simple as a piece of fabric.
