locomotor movements
description
The Primes Division students learned about how to move throughout space in various ways. They learned about locomotor movements such as walking, skipping, galloping, running, hopping, jumping, and sliding. It is important that students understand how to use their bodies and how to travel in different ways. As they develop, and get older, the students will recognize that they often use these movements in some of their favorite activities.
The classes played many different games, each meant to increase heart rate while giving them some practice time to perfect their locomotor movements. Some of the favorite activities were the obstacle courses, Rainbow Tag, and Raid the Food Pantry. The students even incorporated some nutrition information based off of MyPlate. The students build a strong foundation of skills for future units by learning about locomotor movements.
