tchoukball
description
Tchoukball is an exciting, fast-paced game that is focused on inclusive play. The game incorporates passive defense, which allows all participates an equal opportunity to pass, shoot, and advance the ball (meaning there are no steals or interceptions). The only defense allowed is to catch a ball that rebounds off of the scoring frame. This requires some awareness of angles and force. Player placement is vital when discussing defense. The offensive players have to follow "The Rule of Threes". This places certain restrictions on player movement, which encourages passing, creativity, and deception during games.
The students will begin the unit by participating in smaller practice activities to get them accustomed to the various rules of Tchoukball. These activities help the students develop their skills and knowledge to better prepare them for participation in larger games at the end of the unit. These games, as always, will focus on teamwork, cooperation, and good sportspersonship, as well as skills such as throwing and catching.
