pickleball
description
The Pickleball unit in the Junior Division is an introduction to the more advanced unit of the Middle School curriculum. It introduces the students to some of the basic skills (drop shots, long shots, serves), strategies, and rules, but focuses mainly on developing proficient hand-eye coordination to consistently, and accurately, strike a ball with a paddle/racquet. Students will learn about how the angle of the paddle affects the trajectory of the ball and how force is directly correlated to the distance the ball will travel. Understanding these principles
As the unit progresses and the students skills become more developed, they will be expected to participate in singles matches while keeping track of the score on their own. These games become fast-paced and require a great deal of finesse and concentration. This is terrific experience for the students that get a chance to play doubles matches in the Middle School unit.
