bowling
description
During the Bowling unit, the Junior Division students will be learning how to properly roll a ball, how to score a game of bowling, and about the terminology used in the bowling world. By participating in games such as Bowling Pin Knockdown and Fitness Bowling, students will practice their accuracy while improving their cardiovascular endurance. These games provide the students with an opportunity to refine their skills and practice executing the skills with appropriate form before they start participating in a simulated game.
The students will also be introduced to the various delivery styles and ball release techniques used in bowling. The purpose is for each student to develop their own personalized style that will help them consistently, and accurately, roll the ball towards the pins. Ultimately, the students want to knock down as many pins as possible with each ball. Not only is it important they are able to do that, but it is also important they learn how to keep score. Each student has the opportunity to keep score for one of their group members. They learn how a strike and spare affect the scoring of multiple frames. A sample scoresheet can be found here.
