track + Field
description
The Junior Division students will take part in a Track + Field unit that focuses on the running and jumping events that are traditionally part of a track + field meet. The students will learn proper technique and safety procedures while participating in the sprinting, long jump, hurdle, and long distance events. Based on the progress of the class the students may get a chance to participate in a mini Sage track meet at the end of the unit.
This unit is a prerequisite in a way to the Track + Field unit that is completed in Middle School. The students learn some of the less difficult events while in the Junior Division and learn more complex skills as they get older. Track + Field is extremely popular in High School and is one of the sports included in the Olympic Games.
